แปลว่า เคย ปัจจุบันเราไม่นิยมใช้ used
to ในรูปแบบของกริยาช่วยแล้ว แต่เราใช้เฉพาะเป็นกริยาแท้พูดถึงสิ่งที่ทำเป็นนิสัยในอดีต ซึ่งปัจจุบันได้หยุดไปแล้ว
เช่น

เมื่อเป็นประโยคคำถาม และประโยคปฎิเสธเราจะเอา Verb to do เข้ามาช่วย เมื่อเอา Verb to do
จะต้องเปลี่ยน use ให้เป็นกริยาช่องที่ 1 เช่น
I did not use to smoke a lot.

ข้อควรสังเกตอย่านำ used to ไปใช้ปะปนกับ to be used to ซึ่ง to be used to+noun / ing แปลว่า เคยชิน เช่น
I am used to driving at

They are used to going shopping
